Consumption of Whole Grains May Reduce The Risk of Stomach Cancer



Jakarta, stomach cancer is a term used to describe a tumor that grows in the stomach. Cancer is very dangerous because it was ranked the second most deadly of various types of cancer.

Reduce the risk of stomach cancer by adopting a healthy lifestyle and ensure adequate intake of flavonoids are most commonly found in grains.

The study, published in The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition found that women who eat foods high in flavonoids have a lower risk for stomach cancer than women who have less intake of flavonoids.

"A diet rich in flavonoids may be based on plant foods such as fruits, vegetables, whole grain cereals, nuts, seeds, and food products made from plant materials such as tea, and chocolate," said Raul Zamora-Ros, one of the researchers from the Catalan Institute of Oncology in Spain, as quoted from canada.

Type of flavonoid-rich diet combined with reduced eating red meat and processed foods, is a great way to reduce the risk of developing stomach cancer.


These findings do not suggest that only by eating foods rich in flavonoids alone can prevent stomach cancer, but other factors such as a healthy lifestyle also play a role.

The study involved 500,000 men and women in 10 European countries between the ages of 35 to 70 years. This study also has lasted about 11 years with monitoring the lifestyle and diet.

From the number of participants to the study, there were at least 683 cases of stomach cancer that occurs in 288 women.

The researchers analyzed the diary reads about what foods consumed by the study participants. Of the various types of food can also be known how many participants consumed flavonoid intake.
