Stress Making Fat Diet failed

San Francisco, forever Not a low calorie diet effective weight loss. Research has shown that high levels of stress in people actually trigger the rise of dietary weight loss.

Stress in people who do low-calorie diet was triggered by increased hormone cortisol, which is associated with abdominal fat production. This fact was revealed in a study conducted in San Francisco, USA.

A Janet Tomiyama from California University who led the study revealed that stress occurs when people become very concerned with calorie intake.

As a result, as published edition of Psychosomatic Medicine, 6 April, amounting to 64 percent of dieters in the U.S. have increased weight due to stress during a diet.

To investigate this, Janet involving 121 female volunteers and divide it so 4 diet groups. Calorie intake in group 1 limited 1200 calories / day, and record it every day.

Group 2 normal calorie intake and do not need to take notes. Group 3 is limited 1200 calories / day but need not be recorded, while group 4 is not restricted and do not need to take notes.

Cortisol levels and stress levels were measured at the beginning of observation and 3 months thereafter. The result, cortisol levels increase when calories are restricted. Stress levels also rise when the volunteers had to record the intake of calories every day.

"The term itself has been diet brings a feeling deprived, hungry, miserable, difficult and uncomfortable. In the end it was all thwarted efforts to lose weight," says nutritionist Samantha Heller, quoted from HealthDay Friday (9/4/2010).

According to Heller, the best way to lose weight is to adopt a healthy lifestyle. Eating a healthy and varied diet, physical activity and healthy diet is a gradual and planned.

Similar opinions were also given by Dr. David
L. Katz, director of the Prevention Research Center at Yale University School of Medicine. According to the diet is not easy, it takes strategy to reduce stress.

"Food is a source of joy that can relieve stress. If restricted, then there must be a substitute." said Katz.

"Diet alone will not be effective. Physical activity can help speed up weight loss, in addition to making healthy and relieve stress," he added.
